Congratulations are in order for Oxford's most elegant couple! Martin Bird and Sarah Ward Jones are one of two English couples who have been invited by David Douglas, OUDC latin teacher, international judge and former world champion, as English representatives to compete in the Slovak Open Dancesport Festival in Bratislava on the 24th/25th November. They will be entering the IDSF Open Standard and the Amateur A Standard events.

Martin and Sarah are in their second year dancing on the Oxford University Dancesport Team together and have had a number of successes both on the university and open dance circuit. These include reaching the advanced ballroom final and winning the team quickstep at IDVA 2007, and winning the Welsh Border Counties Championship. Martin, with his non-university dance partner Gemma Clunie, also won both the British Amateur Classical and Modern Sequence Championships which were held in Blackpool at the end of October.
